Obituary:
Donald B. Hall, age 87, of Morgantown, WV died March 10, 2011, at Monongalia General Hospital. He was the only child of Jesse J. and Lillian B. Hall and the last immediate member of a family related to early settlers in Morgantown.

He attended Morgantown High School and West Virginia University and prior to World War II, he and his mother owned and operated the Oaks Restaurant on Cheat Lake. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was a crew member on B-17 bombers during the war. Following his service, he worked in the coal industry for Christopher Coal Company as superintendent of coal preparation. He worked in conjunction with the Carnegie Foundation in the development of improved methods of control of mine refuse and prevention of internal combustion of that media. He later worked for FMC Corp. in the sales of underground mining equipment both in the USA and abroad. He retired from Fairmont Supply Company, a division of Consol Energy, in 1985 where he had served as manager of engineered products and vice president of sales.

He was a member of the American Mining Congress, American Institute of Mining Engineers, West Virginia Coal Association, and the King Coal Club. He was also a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and the Cotillion Club. He was an avid golfer and captain of the 1947 undefeated golf team at WVU and was an original member of both Lakeview Country Club and the Pines Country Club where he served on the board of directors. He was a 60 year member of Wesley United Methodist Church and served in various capacities on the official board and the board of trustees. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. His friendly personality and concern for others made him a friend to many. He is survived by his wife, the former Betty Lee Snyder, whom he married in 1944, a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Harrison Eacho of Norfolk, VA and a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Dianne Hall of Pittsburgh, PA.

Friends may call at Wesley United Methodist Church from 2:00 to 4:00PM on Sunday, March 13. A memorial service will be held in the church at 4:00PM Sunday, with Rev. Michael Atkinson officiating. Interment will be at East Oak Grove Cemetery on Monday, March 14, at 10:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to Scott’s Run Settlement House, P.O. Box 398, Osage, WV 26543
