Lorraine Hope Moore Carver, 74, a resident of Tallman Avenue, Elkins, departed this life Wednesday evening, Nov. 12, 2008, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, following a short illness.
She was born Tuesday, Nov. 6, 1934, in Pocahontas County, a daughter of the late Porter Moore and Garnette Jo Hinzman.
On Sept.1, 1960, at Elkins, she was married to William Ray "Bill" Carver, who preceded her in death Sept. 14, 1992.
Surviving are one son, Richard Gordon Carver; two grandsons, Joshua and Cory Carver of Elkins; two sisters, Faye Summerfield of Elkins and Jill Pennington and husband, Roy, of Buckhannon; one brother, Jack Moore and wife, Nadine, of Stephensville, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was one sister, Ann Stewart.
Mrs. Carver was a homemaker, was a member of the H.W. Daniel's Unit 29, American Legion Auxiliary, was a member and past state president of the Independent Order of the Redman's Auxiliary and was a Protestant by faith.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Frank Spears will officiate and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman. Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Lorraine Hope Moore Carver.
