2239As soon as the Northwestern Pike was completed John Nine moved to Reno and owned and operated the famous tavern known as Nine's Tavern, situated one mile west of Brown's Drovers Rest near the top of the mountain. He operated it from that time until 1848 when he was succeeded by Elias Glenn. Sometimes a thousand head of cattle and 40 teams remained there overnight.
