2294HAZEL CATHERINE BENNETT TAYLOR, age 79 years, a resident of Mill Creek, WV and more recently of Beverly, WV departed this life early Wednesday morning, December 31, 2008 at the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center. She had been in declining health for the past two years and had suffered a stroke four months ago.
She was born Tuesday, April 16, 1929 at Cherry Grove, Pendleton County, WV a daughter of the late Clemmie E. Bennett and Nora Kate Lambert Bennett.
She was twice married. First to Robert J. Lambert, who preceded her in death. Second to Stanley B. Taylor, who preceded her in death. Surviving are four sons, Larry Lambert and wife Zorina, Fayetteville, NC; Stanley Taylor, Martinsburg; William McCauley Gilbert and wife Lori, Chardon, OH; Robert Leonard, Belington; three daughters, Ruth E. O’Brien and husband Dave, Genevia, OH; Nancy Draa and husband Paul, Warren, OH; Nora Lambert and husband Bobby, Mill Creek; two brothers, Elmer Bennett and wife Grethel, Franklin; Andrew Bennett and wife Lucy, Petersburg; three sisters, Cathline Dean, Manassas, VA; Luna Haggy, Franklin; Lillian Thompson, Bartow; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death is one infant son, Jacob Bennett.
She attended the schools of Pendleton County, was a member of the Church of the Brethren, loved gospel music, word search puzzles, bible studies and reading the Pendleton Times.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Monday. On Tuesday, January 6, 2009, Mrs. Taylor will be moved to the Valley Independent Baptist Church at Huttonsville, where friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 PM, the funeral hour. Pastor Frank Stanley will officiate and interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville, WV.
