Phyllis Delphia Simmons, 89, a former resident of the Elkins Manor, passed away Monday morning, Jan. 2, 2012, in Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center of Elkins.

She was born Aug. 26, 1922, at Mill Creek, the daughter of the late Zella Estep.

She is survived by two daughters, Marlene Snyder and husband, Larry, of Harman and Carolyn Steinmetz and husband, John, of Cumberland, Md.; and two daughters-in-law, Josephine Smith of Nutter Fort and Jolie Smith of Cumberland, Md. She loved and is survived by her 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and her one great-great-grandson, Aiden.

Also preceding her in death were her first husband, Morrell Smith; her second husband, William Simmons; and two sons, John Lawrence Smith and Fredrick Joseph Smith.

Phyllis retired from Becton Dickinson Medical Laboratory in 1982. She spent her retirement years with Bill and her family.

Friends may call at Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins on Friday, Jan. 6, from 2 until 3 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate and interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center activity fund, in care of the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center, 1175 Beverly Pike, Elkins, WV 26241 or Hospice Care Corp., P.O.
