Carrol Carl Pennington Jr., 63, of Thomas, passed away Dec. 6, 2011, at his home.
He was born April 7, 1948, at Davis, a son of the late Carrol Ray Pennington Sr. and Elsie Lorene Reed Pennington.
Also preceding him in death were one brother, Thomas F. Pennington; two sisters, Patricia Marie Pennington and Linda Lou Young; and one grandson, Joseph Martin Dumire.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Brenda Quick Pennington; four daughters, Carla (George) Faulkner of Thomas, Shannon (Zola) Bogan of Cabins, Gina (Darren) Lilly of Flat Top and Janice (Charles) Skinner of Hendricks; two grandsons, Cody Bogan and Jonathan Skinner; four granddaughters, Darah, Charlette, Mary Grace and Alexandria Lilly; one stepgranddaughter, Tabitha Bogan White; one stepgreat-grandson, Malichi White; and three brothers, Larry Pennington of Laurel, Md., Keith "T-Bone" Pennington of Thomas and Barry Pennington of Seversville, Pa.
Mr. Pennington was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed as a coal miner and later as a construction worker at the Mt. Storm power plant. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 936 of Davis, American Legion Post 22 of Thomas and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his family and friends.
Friends will be received on Thursday, Dec. 8, at Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. Chaplain Jerome Lewis will officiate. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Miners and Merchants Bank. P.O. Box 189, Thomas, WV 26292. Donations will be evenly divided by Hospice Care Corp., Mountain Top Senior Center and Thomas Volunteer Fire Department. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.hinklefuneralhome.com.
