Leona "Elizabeth" Parsons Cooper, 95, a resident of the Holly Meadows community, Parsons, departed this life Thursday morning, March 1, 2012, in Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins.
She was born Tuesday, Aug. 29, 1916, at Cass, a daughter of the late Norval Russell and Tacy Katherine Bennett Parsons.
On Aug. 30, 1933, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Byron Cooper, who preceded her in death March 19, 1986.
Surviving are one son, Robert "Bob" Cooper and wife, Suzie, of Holly Meadows; one daughter, Lois Ann Stiles and husband, Allen, of Elkins; five granddaughters, Karen, Joy, Sherry, Chelsa and Roberta; seven great-grandsons, Wesley, Travis, Byron, Jeremy, Jacob, Zachary and Aaron; and one great-great-grandson, Taliesin.
Preceding her in death were three brothers, Dyer Parsons, Charles Parsons and Eugene Parsons; and one sister, Irene Harman.
She attended the schools of Randolph and Tucker County. She was a member of the St. George United Methodist Church. She along with her husband owned and operated the Cooper Farm at Holly Meadows for more than 30 years. She enjoyed needlework and traveling. She was an avid cook and liked to make pies and spend time with her family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Sunday, March 4, at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Neil Precht will officiate and interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows.
