Ethel May Polillo, 83, formerly of Weippe

Ethel May Polillo passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Day, 2011. She was born February 1, 1928 in Ellensburg, WA to Alexander Spence and Ethel May Vanderkar. The family moved to Weippe where her father was a logger and her mother owned and ran the local cafe. After graduating from Weippe High School in 1946, Ethel married her high school sweetheart, Roscoe Glenn Snyder and they had two children, Kathleen and Steven. Roscoe died in 1948 and Steven died in 1950.
In 1955, Ethel married Clyde Pryor, affectionately known as Mr. Pryor by all. They were married for 12 years before Mr. Pryor passed away in 1967. Ethel was a career postal employee, working her way up from postal clerk in Weippe and Lewiston, Idaho to Postmaster in Othello, WA and Seaside, OR. The majority of her career was spent at the post office in the Richland, WA. In 1972, Ethel married Tom Polillo, also a career Postal Service employee. The two of them have lived in Kennewick, WA since 1974. In 2004, Ethel's beloved daughter Kathleen passed away unexpectedly.
As an avid gardener, Ethel displayed her passion for flowers in her beautiful garden on Canal Drive. Ethel loved spending time with the Red Hat Society ladies, solving crossword puzzles and staying in contact with her many friends and family on Facebook. She had an incredible antique doll collection which was her hobby for years. Ethel was the best wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother in the world. The family loved her advice, wisdom, stories, hugs and candor. She was truly loved by all and will be deeply missed.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Roscoe Snyder and Clyde Pryor, her children, Steven and Kathleen, and her brother, Al Spence.
Ethel is survived by her husband Tom, his children Rikk, Ron, Martha (David), Steve (Karla), her son-in-law, Andy Pollard (Glenna), granddaughters Rachel Lalley (Tim), Sarah Geisler (Jason), great-grandchildren Regan, Koen, Austin, her sister, Mary Ann Chapman and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held graveside in Weippe on Friday, Dec.30th, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Heart Association.
