Jacob Harness, was born near Harman, W. Va., Sept. 25, 1875; died near Dry Fork, W. Va., Aug. 1, 1955. He spent his entire life in the Dry Fork valley of West Virginia where he engaged in farming and working in timber. At the age of 22 he married Laura Kisamore, who preceded him in death nine years ago. To this union 9 children were born, 3 of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by the following children, Russell, Oscar, and Clyde of Cumberland, Md.; Vernice of Webster Springs, W. Va., Delton of Denbigh, Va., and Mrs. Effie Arbogast of Dry Fork, W. Va., with whom he made his home. He also leaves 22 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Seven years ago he became a member of the Mennonite Church, uniting with the Riverside congregation of near Harman, W. Va. Funeral services at Riverside Church were held by Oliver M. Keener and M. J. Brunk, with burial in Cooper Cemetery, Harman, W. Va.

PARSONS—Jacob Harness Summerfield, 79, died Monday at his farm home in the Dry Fork section.
Born in Pendleton County, a son of the late Jackson and Betty (Pennington) Summerfield, he was the last surviving member of that family. His wife, Mrs. Laura (Kisamore) Summerfield, preceded him in death. Surviving are five sons, Vernice Summerfield, Webster Springs; Clyde, Oscar and Russell Summerfield, all of Cumberland, and Delton Summerfield, Vendigh, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Howard Arbogast, Dry Fork. 22 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
The body will remain at the residence until noon tomorrow when it will be taken to Riverside Mennonite Church for services at 2 p. m. by Rev. M. J. Brunk and Rev. Oliver Keener. Interment will be in Cooper Cemetery near Harman.

Davis, W. Va.---Rev. Vernice Summerfield, 72, of Bayard, died Saturday at his residence.
A native of Harman, he was the son of the late Jacob H and Laura (Kisamore) Summerfield.
Rev. Mr. Summerfield was pastor of the Bayard Church of God.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ocie (Flynn) Summerfield; one son, Carl Summerfield, Saugus, Calif.; six daughters, Mrs. Elsie Fox, Harman; Mrs. Thelma Cerne, Deer Park, Md.; Mrs. Mona Harring, Friendsville; Mrs. Betty Smith, Harrisburg, Va.; Mrs. Verna Bradshaw, Cleveland, and Mrs. Shirley Stemple, Kerens, W. Va.; four brothers, Russell Summerfield and Oscar Summerfield, both of Cumberland; Clyde Summerfield, Akron, Ohio, and Delton Summerfield, Newport News, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Effie Arbogast, Harman; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The body is at the Hinkle Funeral Home here where friends will be received until 10 a.m. Tuesday. At that time, the body will be taken to the Elkins Church of God where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Rev. Wayne DeHart, Rev. Robert White and Rev. David Meadows will officiate and interment will be in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens, Elkins.

Russell (Slim) Summerfield, 68, of Queen City Towers Apartments, died there yesterday.
A native of Harman, W. Va., he was a son of the late Jacob H. and Laura A. (Kisamore) Summerfield.
A retired employe of the Astor Cab Company, he had formerly been employed at Celanese Corporation of America Plant. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and Senior Citizens.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Janet A. Diehl, 140 North Bel Air Drive; a sister, Mrs. Effie Arbogast, Dry Fork, W. Va.; three brothers, Oscar C. Summerfield, city; Clyde Summerfield, Akron, Ohio, and Delton Summerfield, Newport News, Va., and three grandchildren.
The body is at the George Funeral Home where friends will be received from 7 until 9 p.m. today and from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. tomorrow.

Summerfield.- Delton, son of Jacob and Laura (Kisamore) Summerfield, was born at Dryfork, W.Va., June 10, 1919; died of cancer at Riverside Hospital, Newport News, Va., Oct. 19, 1981; aged 62 y. He was married to Fay Pennington, who survives. Also surviving are 3 children (Phyliss, Mitchel and Dwight). He was a member of Providence Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Oct. 23, in charge of Ernest M. Godshall; interment in Providence Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Fay Lavana Summerfield, 86, passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at Newport News Nursing and Rehab.
Born in Harmon, W.Va., she was a homemaker and had been a Peninsula resident for the past 57 years. She was a faithful member of Providence Mennonite Church.
Mrs. Summerfield was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 37 years, Delton Summerfield.
She is survived by two sons, Mitchell D. Summerfield, and wife, Vicki, of North Carolina, and Dwight J. Summerfield of Newport News; one daughter, Phyllis D. Summerfield of Newport News; three brothers, George and Ray Pennington, both of Newport News, and Tony Pennington of Arizona; four sisters, Armetha Corbin of Charlottesville, Nealo Butcher of Arizona, and Pat Brunk and Linda Pennington, both of Newport News; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Weymouth Funeral Home by the Rev. Ken Peterson. Interment will follow in Providence Mennonite Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Providence Mennonite Church, 13101 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23602.
