Anna Margaret Mick Carr, 97, a resident of Hendricks, and more recently a resident of Cortland Acres at Thomas, went home to be with the Lord, Friday morning, May 18, 2012, in Cortland Acres.
She was born Monday, Oct. 13, 1914, at Dry Fork, Randolph County, a daughter of the late Jay and Vina Elizabeth Davis Mick.
On May 20, 1930, at Hendricks, she was married to Alvie Carr, who preceded her in death March 19, 1984. They had celebrated 54 years of marriage.
Surviving are two sons, James "June" Carr and wife, Shirley, of Hendricks and Alvie Clarence "Neal" Carr and wife, Twila, of Montrose; three daughters, Bessie Wilmoth of Lebanon, Va., Lula Friend and husband, Terry, of Texas, and Rita Oldaker and husband, Jim, of Virginia; and 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Mick; one sister, Gladys Mick; one great-grandson, Dustin Waybright; one son-in-law, Lawrence Wilmoth and one daughter-in-law, Louise McDaniel Carr.
She attended the schools at Tucker County. She was a former store clerk for Cleta Long at Hendricks. She was a member of the Rosendorf Pentecostal Church at Hendricks. She was a devout mother and homemaker. She was an avid guitar player and singer. She was a noted cook and was a devout Christian lady.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Monday, May 21, at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. David Wilmoth, the Rev. Carolyn Shreve, the Rev. Lonnie Baldwin and the Rev. Steve Pyle will officiate, and interment will follow in Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons.
