Frederick Samuel Sapp was born in Ohio. In 1851 he married Susannah Elizabeth Hibbits,also born in Ohio. Frederick and Susannah were neighbors of sorts in Jefferson Township in Knox County. Frederick was a volunteer in Company I. 1st Ohio USVY during the civil war. In the early 1880's Frederick and family along with the Hibbits migrated to Missouri. They settled in the Sullivan County area. Frederick died in 1892, when he fell from a spring wagon and sustained severe injuries. He is buried in Pleasentville Cemetary in Mystic Missouri.
