Vigil Ralph Pennington, 80, of Singers Glen, VA, died Aug. 13, 2012 at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center where he had been a resident. Mr. Pennington was born Feb. 9, 1932 in WV and was the son of the late John and Katie Bland Pennington. On Aug. 15, 1981,
he married Georgia Steele, who survives.

Also surviving are five children: Ralph LaVerne Pennington, Donnie Lee Pennington, Eva Jean Moubray, Jerry Lee Pennington and Janice Shipe. Surviving are two sisters: Jacqueline Brown of Harrisonburg and Lorraine Losh of Bridgewater.

Mr. Pennington was preceded in death by two sisters: Mildred Hendricks and Irene Pennington.

Singers Glen
Virgil Ralph Pennington, 80, of Singers Glen died August 13, 2012 at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation where he had been a resident.
Mr. Pennington was born on February 9, 1932, in West Virginia and was the son of the late John and Katie Bland Pennington.  He worked for Nielson Construction for over 35 years until his retirement.  He enjoyed collecting items at yard sales. He enjoyed witnessing to people about his faith and was known for handing out candy.  He attended Greenmount Church of the Brethren.
On August 15, 1981, he married Georgia Steele who survives.
Also surviving are five children, Ralph LaVerne Pennington and wife Judy, Timberville, Donnie Lee Pennington and wife Brenda, Forrestville, Eva Jean Moubray and husband Dale, Melrose, Jerry Lee Pennington and wife Gail, Mt. Crawford, and Janice Shipe and husband Charlie, Mathias; four step children, Ralph Lee Craig and wife Patty, New Hope, Teresa C. Stinnett and husband Dickie, Timberville; George W. Craig and wife Tina, Harrisonburg;  and Londia Dean and husband Rob, Elkton; two sisters, Jacqueline Brown, Harrisonburg and Lorraine Losh, Bridgewater; fourteen grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Pennington was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Hendricks and Irene Pennington.
Pastors Ken Dolan, Sam Sponaugle and Zach Pennington will conduct a funeral service Wednesday morning, August 15, 2012 at 11a.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from seven until eight at the funeral home.
