Gary L. White, 72, Orofino

Heaven just got a lot sweeter and rowdier as Gary L. White went home to be with his loving family who preceded him. Gary was 72 years old and fought a hard battle with cancer. Gary passed at his home in Orofino, Thursday morningFeb. 20, 2014. Gary was born in Orofino, June 9, 1941 to Olie and Virginia White. At the age of 18 months old Gary went to live with Doc and Honey Snyder in Nampa.
Gary’s father Olie White continued to be a very important part of his life. When Gary was 12 years old the family moved to Lewiston where he attended the remainder of his school years.
Shortly after finishing school, Gary married Betty Anderson and had two kids Kirk and Christina. That marriage ended in divorce. In the spring of 1979 Gary’s heart was broken when his sweet little 11 year old Chrissy disappeared fromAsotin, WA, and has never been found. In 1967 Gary married the love of his life, Alita Mader, and delighted in raising two more sons, Brad and Rob.
Alita and Gary spent 35 years together raising kids, working hard and playing even harder. In 2004 Alita passed away and Gary moved back to Orofino, Gary especially enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping and long drives exploring new places. His favorite area was the North Fork of the Clearwater River.
Gary is survived by loving sons Kirk White (Heidi), Brad Kitchen (Susan); grandchildren Jacob, Daniel, Shelby, Kody, Kristin, and Kyle. Gary’s companion Sharon Kaufman was by his side the last eight years, laughing and loving life. Gary requested no services. All family and friends are invited to Gary’s celebration of life July 4, at the 4th of July creek flat on the North Fork of the Clearwater.
We thought of you with love today, but this is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday and days before that too. We think of you in silence, we often speak your name. Now all we have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we will never part. God has you in his keeping; we have you in our hearts.
Until we meet again, rest in peace, from your loving family.
