Rev. Emmett C. Bonner, 86, of Idaho died May 25, 1990 at Sacred Heart Medical Center of kidney failure.  

He was born Sept. 15, 1903 at Fraser, ID, a son of the late Solomon and Martha Bonner.

He is survived by his wife, the Rev. Clara Bonner of Pierce; five sons, Emmett L. Bonner of Pierce, James C. Bonner and Phillip M. Bonner of Orofino, Timothy P. Bonner of Longview, WA, Terry P. Bonner of Oakanogan, WA [sic—should be Okanagan]; four daughters, Joann K. Hansen of Orofino, Joy Bullock of Kelso, WA, Mona Lisa Hedges of Redmond, WA, Willie Jo Woodring of Escondido, CA; one sister, Lulu Nette of Orofino; 44 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Chuck Hansen and one great-grandson, Shon Hansen.  

He was an active Pierce pastor.

The family began homesteading in the Fraser area near Weippe in 1895.  

After his birth the family returned to West Virginia for a year and then moved back to Idaho to settle on Fords Creek, between Orofino and Greer.

He attended schools in the area, worked on the farm and logged. He married Clara Pritchard, Feb. 1, 1934 at Asotin.

They moved to Orofino in 1935, where he was employed as a faller by Mel Snook Logging and by A.B. Brown.  

In 1939 he started his ministry.   In1944, they moved to Weippe, where he started a church, assisted by his wife, who is also a minister.

They later returned to Orofino for a short time before moving to Pierce where he was employed by Cardi___ Lumber Company. At Pierce, they started building the First Protestant Church, where he and his wife have served as pastor since then.

He retired from logging in 1968.

Bonner built and operated Black Bear Youth Camp, which young people from many Western states attend, in the Grangemont area.   Another youth project Bonner participated in was junior-senior prom…. [cut off]

He was a member of Evanelis__ Messengers Association.  

Active pallbearers were _____ Hansen, Pat, Phil, Jim, and Emmett L. Bonner and Ron Kinard.  

Honorary pallbearers were G_______ Cram, Bob Spence, Chuck Kinard, Don Hedges, Carl Bullock and Douglas Woodring.  

The funeral was held May 1990 from Pine Hills Funeral Chapel, Orofino, Idaho with his son, Rev. Timothy Bonner officiating. Interment followed in Cook Cemetery Upper Ford Creek.
