Note to Craig Snyder on 12/24/2001
Yes, Sampson Snyder was my GG Grandfather, my G Grandparents were Jacob
Smith Cooper and Carrie Viola Snyder, my Grandparents were Sampson Snyder
Cooper and Grayce Shears, my Parents are Timothy Samson Cooper and Carol
Yvonne Miller.
I live quite a distance away from you, I am in Lima, Ohio which is about
90 miles Northwest of Columbus, OH. My Father still lives in Randolph
County, WV near the original Cooper homestead on Rich Mountain. My
Father was the only surviving son of Sampson and Grayce but there were 4
daughters also, 2 also living in the immediate area of Rich Mountain in
Harmon, WV. The other is living in Zanesville, OH; her daughter,
Michelle is also trying to trace the family back and she has contacted a
cousin in Columbus who has traced one branch back to Ireland, she is to
give me the email after Christmas and I will let you know what I find out
if you would like.
I have been having alot of trouble with Valentine also, it appears to
have been a very popular name for that time period and I have had alot of
trouble finding any record of his birth. I believed his wife to be a
Bieble or Bible, but according to the information that you received, I am
no longer sure. At this point, my best source of information will be my
Great Uncle Paul Cooper's wife Jane who is still living in Harmon on the
homestead where most of the Cooper's are buried in the Family Cemetery.
I am planning to go down for a visit in July of this year for the Cooper
Family reunion and hopefully I can get some more information.

I will be attending a family reunion in Harman, WV the week of July fourth, and I hope to be able to find a clue to Valentine Cooper. Everything I have found so far still points to his wife's maiden name being Bible, but I have not found the verification I need. I am hoping to find something on Valentine's parents or siblings and maybe that will open another door into this mystery. I am also going to visit and record, on either video or digital camera, as many of the Snyder and Cooper Cemetery's as possible while I am there for the week. If there is anything specific that you need, other than info on Valentine, let me know and I will see what I can do. My Great-Uncle Paul Cooper's wife, Jane is still alive and living on the homestead on the banks of the Dry Fork river. Also, the last I knew my Great Aunt Anna Lee Cooper was also alive, but at the least, my Aunt Arlene, with whom my Grandfather, Sampson Cooper lived when he died is living there and she has possesion of the Family bible of Carrie Viola Snyder and Jacob Smith Cooper.
