Notes for Susanna “Susan” Nelson
There are those who would connect this Susanna Nelson to Isaac Nelson and Elizabeth McCartney . . . I lean in that direction but would like to have more substantiation [craig snyder, July, 2004]

"James Henry Lambert son of James B and Susan Nelson Lambert was born on Dry fork, Pendleton Country. Virginia February 22, 1828. During his childhood the father moved the family from Dry Run to a farm located on Gandy Creek, Randolph County, near where the village of Whitmer now stands. The farm on which they located was currently known as the Johnson place, later the Price place and afterwards owned by Christopher Armantrout. While occupying that home the father became ill and his death soon followed. For a time the widow and children continued to occupy their home and she was successful in holding the family together untill they all reached maturity. There names were nathaniel Jackson, James Henry, Stewart Sampson, Madison, Martha, Virginia and Susan.

263JAMES B. LAMBERT, third son of John Lambert and Winnie Nelson Lambert, was a teacher and minister of the United Brethern Church. In addition to his rare mental endowment, he possessed a great physical strength, having weighed about two hundred and fifty pounds. No culprit dared to interrupt a school or religious service over which he presided.
About a year before his death he became a victim of typhoid. Although having recovered from this illness, as a result of it he soon developed an abscessed hip which was the immediate cause of his death. While filling a ministerial appointment in the German Valley, Pendleton County, Virginia his physical strength suddenly broke. For treatment and care he was taken to the home of Joseph Lantz, one of his parishioners. Here a few days later he passed away, and was buried in the Hinkle-Lantz Cemetery, Pendleton County. The following inscription marks his tombstone:
"J. B. Lambert
Died Feb. 16, 1851
Age 45 yrs.""
