John Davis in 1762, when the Baptist innkeeper was ordered to pay more than five pounds to the Anglican church for the poor of Cameron Parish after being convicted of allowing unlawful gambling in his inn, particularly cards and dice. In his will, John bequeathed "one hundred pounds of Virginia currency" to his beloved Cilfowyr Baptist Chapel in Wales. Rachel's aunt Sarah Davis left most of her possessions to Rachel, whom she named executrix of the will, "except some outstanding debts due from poor people who were drove by the Indians, so I remit it then."
