Pioneer Resident of Macksville Dies Last Tuesday
Cyrus Harman Passes Away At Advanced Age
Cyrus Harman, age 85 years, seven months and 17 days, died at his home near Macksville, Tuesday, December 2-, 1931. He was a son of Thomas Harman and was one of a family of 24 children, which family is well known and highly respected.
His brother, Riley Harman, of Macksville, and also his sister, Miss. Lydia Harman, died during this year and his brothers, Isaac and Henry, died in recent years. One sister, Miss. Bettie, died about six years ago.
He is survived by his wife and three grandchildren, Mrs. Nell Harper, and Guy Hedrick of Macksville and Elizabeth Hedrick of Parsons.
Mr. Harman was one of Pendleton County’s oldest and most respected citizens. He was a loyal and active member of the U.B. Church since his boyhood days, always contributing willingly of himself and of his money to the support of this church.
He manifested the Christlike spirit in his dealing with his fellow men. He always willingly lent a helping hand where needed, and his departure will be a severe loss to his church and community.
The large assembly that attended the funeral was an expression of the high esteem with which Mr. Harman was held.
