Brother Nelson was converted when a young man and united with the United Brethren Church and lived a consistent Christian until the end of life came.
In the Cave Schoolhouse section where he lived, he was class leader, and Sunday School superintendent more than 20 years.
On account of his affliction during a period of 12 years or more, he was confined to the house the most of the time and by Divine help he bore with patience and Christian fortitude the sufferings and ordeals thru which he passed without murmering or complaining.
The weather was inclement the day of his burial, but a good number of people gathered to pay their last tribute to him, who was often spoken of as a good man.
Funeral services were conducted at the home by his pastor the Rev. H.L. Wooddell, assisted by Rev. J.E. Sandbower of the Methodist Church, and his body was laid to rest in the family cemetery near the home to await the resurrection morning.
