Agnes Snyder, 99, of Floral City, Florida, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at home under the loving care of her family.
She was born Jan. 16, 1911, at Gould, to the late Austin and Myrtle Tenney, she has been a full time resident since 1992.
Prior to that, she and her late husband, Carl, had spent the winter months in Floral City, Florida, since 1975, coming from Ivanhoe.
She was a retired postmaster with the U.S. Postal Service in West Virginia with 42 years of service. Agnes was a member of the Floral City Baptist Church, the Saints Aglow and Golden Agers fellowships, both in Floral City, Florida. She was a member of the Farm Women's Club, The Rebekah Lodge and the Sago Baptist Church, all in West Virginia.
Survivors include two sons, Arkie (Ramona) Snyder of Richmond, Virginia, and Stephen (Dianne) Snyder of Hayward, Wisconsin; four daughters, Jean Grandinette of Spring Hill Florida, Wilda (Edward) Lunceford of Floral City, Florida, Bessie (Chuck) Utz of Floral City, Florida, and Barbara Gould of Lincolnton, Georgia; her brother, Lawrence Tenney of Medway, Massachusetts; three sisters, Laudie Hess of Mountain Lake, Maryland, Donna Lou Powers of Auburn, Massachusetts, and Carol Sullivan of Clinton, Maryland; 22 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to raising her own six children, Agnes and Carl were foster parents to 32 children including Marilyn McConatha and Juanita McCauley, who she raised since they were 2 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, the Rev. Carl Snyder and two brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services were conducted Nov. 6 at Floral City Baptist Church with the REv. Eddie Quates officiating, Burial was in the Hills of Rest Cemetery in Floral City, Florida. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness, Florida.

The Rev. Carl Ford Snyder, 92, of Floral City died Friday, April 7, 2000, at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. He was born in Queens, W.Va., on Oct. 19, 1907, to the late Henry Forrest and Bessie Leona (Lower) Snyder, and moved here 14 years ago from Buckhannon, W.Va. He was a retired coal miner and an ordained Baptist minister. He was a member of the Floral City Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lena (Tenney) Snyder of Floral City; two sons, Arkie G. Snyder of Richmond, Va. and Stephen L. Snyder of Waukesha, Wis.; four daughters, Jean Grandinette of Spring Hill, Wilda R. Lunceford of Floral City, Bessie D. Utz of Floral City, and Barbara A. Gould of Lincolnton, Ga.; one brother, the Rev. Dorsey Snyder of Buckhannon, W.Va.; 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Chas. E.
