Pearl Lucinda Roy, 83, a resident of Elkins, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, in Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas. She was born May 21, 1929, at Frank, a daughter of the late Bard and Hallie Mae Moats Rankin. She was married to Jack Dempsey Roy Sr., who preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons, Jack Roy Jr. and wife, Teresa, of Elkins, Kenneth Roy and wife, Joy, of Beverly and Craig Roy of Elkins; and a daughter, Debra Roy of Elkins. One brother, Frank Rankin of Ashtabula, Ohio; five sisters, Janette Shears of Harrisonburg, Va., Bonnie Rankin and Ruth Ann Haddix of Ohio, Roberta Poling and Nina Rankin, of Kearneysville; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren also survive. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, William Rankin and Ray Rankinp; and one sister, Sandra Rankin. Mrs. Roy was a graduate of Green Bank High School where she was valedictorian of her class and was employed by Reidbord Brothers of Elkins for many years. At the request of the deceased, her remains will be cremated. Memorial contributions may be made to the Randolph County Human Society, P.O. Box 785, Elkins, WV 26241, in memory of Mrs. Roy.
