Kate (Mallow) Kimble, age 92, a resident of the Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg,
and formerly of Seneca Rocks, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 at Winchester
Medical Center. She was born on Sept. 23, 1921 in Pendleton County, the daughter of the
late Wilbur and Laura (Bible) Mallow. She was married to Gerald J. Kimble, who preceded
her in death on April 16, 1994.
Mrs. Kimble was a loving mother and homemaker who worked along side her husband,
Gerald, operating their farm in the Harman Hills area for over 50 years. She enjoyed
quilting and took great pride in the number of quilts she made. Mrs. Kimble attended the
High Rock United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Kimble is survived by two daughters, Linda Kay Sponaugle and husband, Gary, of
Martinsburg, and Donna K. Smith and husband, Wayne, of Inwood; three sisters, Rubie
Kimble, of Petersburg, Joy Thompson, of Petersburg, and Shirley Bennett, of Seneca
Rocks; and one brother, Ford Mallow, of Seneca Rocks. She is also survived by four
grandchildren, Jennifer Parsons and husband, Kurt, of Pasadena, Md., Bradley Sponaugle
and wife, Erin, of Martinsburg, Wesley Smith, of Inwood, and Amber Smith, of
Morgantown; two great-grandsons, Cole Parsons and Seth Parsons, of Pasadena, Md.,
and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Blake
Mallow.
Mrs. Kimble's family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Basagic Funeral Home in
Petersburg. The Rev. Earl Bible will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov.
25, 2013 in the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home. Internment will follow at the North
Fork Memorial Gardens in Riverton, W.Va.
