19I saw on the RootsWeb World Connect that you have a connection to Christian Rohrbaugh and Elizabeth Ault. I have been researching the Alt/Ault lines in the Hardy/Grant Co. WV area with another woman for over 5 years. We intend to get a book published on Alt and are working to that end.

Elizabeth Alt was the daughter of Michael Alt and Mary Stieffel/ Boots. I have her born ca 1790 in Hardy Co., VA(WV). She could be a year or two older than that, in which case she probably would have been born in Maryland. She had a sister Mary who according to the 1850 census, was b. ca 1788 in Maryland. Their father Michael does not show up on the tax lists of Hardy Co. until 1790.

Christian Rorhbaugh was born in York Co., PA according to the book Rohrbaugh/Rohrbach Families of York Co., Penn.

Their daughter Maria/Mary was b. Jan 16, 1807 according to the church record, which you already have. I have some on the children of Mary and Jonas Cooper, which I believe I copied out of History of Randolph Co., WV. by Hu Maxwell. If you would like more information, let me know.

The proof that Elizabeth Rohrbaugh was daughter of Michael Alt is found on the deeds involving Michael Alt's estate. Pendleton Co. Virginia Deed Vol. 13, page 628, dated Oct. 20, 1831. This Indenture made 20th day of October in the year of our Lord 1831 by and between Micahel Alt and his wife Elizabeth, Daniel Katerman and his wife Barbara, Jacob Roads and his wife Mary, Christian Roubaugh and his wife Elizabeth, John Roads and his wife Susannah, Ginna Alt of one part and Jacob, William Alt,and Isaac Alt of the other part..........
Christian and Elizabeth made their mark at the bottom of the deed. There are two other earlier deeds that name them both as heirs of Michael Alt. I can give you the references if you want them.

b. 1776??bef. 1780 I have different info on Mary Rohrbaugh wife of Jonas Cooper. According to Rohrbach Genealogy by Lewis Bunker Rohrbaugh from 1970 on page 42, Maria b. Jan. 16, 1807 Hardy co. VA now Grant co. WVA - daughter of Christian Rohrbaugh b. April 6, 1776 and Elizabeth ? (may be Ault) b. abt. 1785-90. Maria Rohrbaugh was baptised April 14, 1807 Old North Mill Creek German Lutheran Reformed Church, south of Petersburg, WVA. She died after June 11, 1845. She married Jonas Cooper on Feb.9, 1826 Hardy co. VA. Christian Rohrbach's will dated June 11, 1845 was proven in Hardy co. VA on Feb. 9, 1854 (Hardy wills 9:144)
