Caughlan at the Methodist church parsonage in Lewiston Jan. 18. Mrs. Viola Eby and Mrs. Nola Cochrell, mothers of the bride and groom, witnessed the ceremony.

Leo M. Cochrell, 79, longtime of Weippe
OROFINO -- Leo M. Cochrell, 79, a longtime Weippe resident, died Thursday at Clearwater Valley Hospital here of causes related to age.
He was born Jan. 24, 1918, to Roy and Nolla Snyder Cochrell at Fraser, near Orofino. He grew up in that area and graduated from Weippe High School in 1935.
He married Lazetta Eby Jan. 18, 1938, at Lewiston.
He worked for the Schmit Brothers Mill from 1935 to 1962. The couple then moved to Kennewick, where he operated a Mobil station for 12 years.
They returned to Weippe in 1976 and he had worked at New Pioneer Log Homes as a logger since 1978.
He enjoyed his work, reading and going to yard sales.
He is survived by his wife at the couple's Weippe home; two sons, Art Cochrell of Weippe and Dale Cochrell of Clinton, Mont.; two brothers, Roy Cochrell Jr. of Weippe and Otis Cochrell of Bellevue, Wash.; two sisters, Lennis Wilkins of Kamiah and Edna Thornton of Weippe; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A grandson died previously.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Pine Hills Funeral Chapel at Orofino. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Fraser Cemetery near Orofino. The Rev. Don Blain of Weippe will officiate.

Lazetta M. Cochrell, 94, Weippe
Lazetta May Cochrell, 94, a longtime resident of the Weippe area, passed away of natural causes Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
Lazetta was born Nov. 3, 1919 in Orofino, Idaho to Jesse and Viola (Thornton) Eby. The family moved to Longview, WA when she was small for employment reason, then back to the Fraser area when she was a young girl.
There she met the love of her life, Leo M. Cochrell. They where married on Jan. 18, 1935 in Lewiston. Her life was filled with homemaking and family raising at their home at Schmidt’s Mill until 1962. The couple then moved their family to Kennewick, WA, where they worked side by side as owners/operators of a Mobil Station for 12 years.
In 1976 they retired and moved back to Weippe and their family roots. Lazetta resumed the life she loved, maintaining her home and yard, sewing, baking, caring for and loving her family and friends.
She gave endless hours watching her then youngest granddaughter, Kelsey, and assisting with the tasks she did so well at the home of her son and daughter-in-law as they worked at their family business. The visits to Montana and time spent with Dale’s family brought her much enjoyment, only wishing they were more frequent.
Lazetta is survived by: two sons, Dale Cochrell and wife Bonnie of Clinton, MT and Art Cochrell and wife Barb of Weippe; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband Leo; a brother, Bob Eby, a sister, Helen Higley; and one grandson.
A memorial service will be held at the Weippe Wesleyan Church on Friday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. A potluck lunch will follow at the Fraser Community Center.
