Margaret Graves married Andrew Jackson Carter Sr. on 17 Aug 1849, and they had 5 children (Nancy, William, Calvin, Mahaley, and Andrew Jackson Jr.), the youngest born 7 months after his father was tragically killed in the Civil War.
