Pendleton Times, Oct. 9, 1931 Asa Cooper Dies
Asa Cooper, 73 of Harman, died on Monday, October 5, 1931; at the Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins where he had been taken that day for treatment.
179Mr. Cooper, who retired from active business had been in delicate health for several years.
For many years, Mr. Cooper owned and managed the only hotel at Harman and was a very popular landlord. He was a man of high character and commanded the respect of those who knew him.
He is survived by three sons, Arthur Cooper, cashier of the Stockman's Bank of Harman, Riley Cooper, assistant cashier of the Stockman's Bank and Robert Cooper of Detroit and by two daughters, Mrs. M.J. Roy and Mrs. Gordon Bennett, both of Harman.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock pm Wednesday by Rev. Herman Wommeldorf, Pastor of the North Fork Presbyterian churches and the body was laid to rest in the cemetery at Harman.

179Mrs. Gertie Lee Cooper, 90, who died Sunday at the home of a son in Harman, was buried in the family cemetery there following a funeral in the Harman Presbyterian church yesterday.
Mrs. Cooper, who is survived by two other sons, a daughter, 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, was born April 4, 1864 at Macksville, a daugher of the late Anthony and Harriett (Stonebreaker) McDonald.
