Notes for Joseph Benjamin "Ben" (Spouse 1)
According to granddaughter Josephine who was raised by grandpa Ben. The day Grandpa Ben died, he had just gotten finished hoeing the garden around noon and had sit down to rest in a chair in the yard when his daughter Cora was fixing noon dinner. When she came to get him to come in to eat, he was dead in the chair.226

Hugh F. Brown (Hugh’s middle name was possibly "Fulton") was bushwhacked during the Civil War when a man on horseback came riding up and shot him while Hugh F. Brown, Ben Johnson and Ben's little sister was all cutting wood. Ben was 13 yr. old. Ben has told the story many times to different people.99

“We don't know exactly why Ben and his sister were being raised by his Aunt and Uncle on his mother's side.”
Hugh F. Brown used to own the land that Glenn Murray's kids now own (Glenn Murray owned it when I was growing up). Glenn Murry used to work with Great-grandpa Ben Johnson when Ben was head of the road crew around the country. Glenn Murray was 89 years old when I spoke with him and he called Ben Johnson, "Uncle Ben." They were taught in their younger days to call the elders Uncle and Aunt out of respect, although they may not be any kin to them. I find this very appreciative.
