I received an e-mail from a WHS alumni recently.  He says, “I have subscribed to the Clearwater Tribune for most of the time since leaving Weippe in 1960.  Thank you for doing the news when Maxine was not able.”  Gary Bennett
This is the e-mail Gary sent:
Former Weippe residents Gary Bennett and Gale Mutum recently spent a couple of days catching up on old and new news after meeting in Bradenton, Florida.  Both men are 1958 graduates of Weippe High School..  Gale and his wife Marcie are both retired from the U.S. Air Force and live full time on their 45 ft. power yacht.          They were spending their second winter in Florida and have spent their summers on the east coast based in Maryland.  Gary has been retired for 4 years after working for Portland General Electric Co. at the Trojan Nuclear Power Plant for 29 years.     Marsha, his companion, is a retired teacher from the Kelso, Washington school district.  Since retirement, they have traveled to 16 different states and to Canada and Mexico.      They live in Rainier, Oregon and are snowbirds spending 3 to 5 months during the winter, traveling with their fifth wheel trailer to warmer climates.
This trip, after spending 6 weeks in southern California, they stored their RV in Arizona and flew to Florida for 3 weeks to attend the Daytona 500 Race and visit Marsha’s family.  They later returned to Arizona to pick up their RV and continue on with their winter trip.
Gary and Gale have kept in contact with one another over the years, but had not seen each other for 5 years.
