179Asa Pennington and his wife Grace, bought the U. G. Lanham farm and lived there from 1947 to 1957. They now own and operate Pennington's Grocery Store in Stringtown, which is about two miles South of Canaan Valley. They raised one daughter, Juanita.
Asa's brother, William and his wife Zulla lived on this farm until part of it was bought for the Canaan Valley State Park in 1967. They then bought a farm near Eglon, W.Va. and now live there, but still own part of the farm in the Valley.
