“McKinney--Mrs. Sarah Anna McKinney, 87 years old, died yesterday at her home, 5500 Forest Avenue. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W. H. Wood, 5500 Forest Avenue, and Mrs. George Collier, 2812 W. Prospect Place: a son, Dr. J. W. McKinney, 1241 Quindaro Boulevard, Kansas side. Funeral services at 2 o'clock tomorrow, 5500 Forest Ave.”

-----------------------

840"My grandmother, Sarah Anna Storey Rupe McKinney, said she wanted to travel with her husband, James Rupe, on one of his trading trips so they both set out by riding horses. About the 2nd or 3rd day they came upon a group of naked Indians riding bareback. She became frightened and persuaded her husband to take her back home. They were living in the country near Weston, Missouri at the time. Needless to say, that was her last "business trip".
James Rupe was later killed by Indians while on one of his trading trips, leaving Sarah a widow with 2 young daughters, Mary A. and Phoebe."
