Jess was born April 26, 1963 in Pasco, Washington where he and his family lived until 1970. The family then moved to Beavertail where they still reside. Jess went to grade school in Clinton and then attended High School in Drummond. Jess participated in many activities but he excelled in football. In his junior year he was Allstate Honorable Mention and he was Allstate First Team in his senior year. Mr. DeRosier, his coach, said Jess was one of his most inspirational players, always ready to do his best.

After High School Jess went to the University of Montana, in Missoula for a year. During that year he met Lori Foust and they were married in September of 1982. Jess and Lori had 2 children, Allison who is 5 years old, and
Derek who is 2 ½ years old. Jess worked as Painter in Missoula and in Anchorage. Jess enjoyed people and made friends easily and had many of them. It didn?t matter to Jess whom you were or what you did he just wanted to be your friend. Jess was also a very giving person doing whatever he could for whomever he could. An example of Jess’s generosity was what he did for Dale (Junior) of which we will never forget. Dale had shot a beautiful Black Bear and taken the hide in to have it made into a rug. We did not have
enough money to pay for it and it was taking us long time to make the payments in order to get the rug. One night, unexpectedly, Jess come to the house with the rug. He had painted the Taxidermist?s building in exchange for the rug and gave it to us as a gift. He then took the time to mount it on our wall. Dale was not home at the time and you can imagine his surprise when he came home. Jess never expected anything of us for anything he did for us.
He would call us quite often, bring out food that he knew we liked, and we would have a good time together. Oh sure, Jess had his faults. He would get madder than a snake one second and then the next he would be over it. Sometimes he did things without thinking but the good in Jess far out weighted the bad and we loved him and we will miss him.

I know Jess was saved and is in a far better place than us. There is great comfort in knowing this. I just hope Jess’s death will make us all see how important is to be saved. Dale and I know we will get to see him in Heaven someday and tell him all the good things we didn?t tell him while he was here. I hope that we can all be better Christians then maybe Jess?s death won?t be in vain. Jess was a super Brother, a wonderful Son, a loving Father, and a best Friend. Jess will be greatly missed by all.
Robin Cochrell.
