Ruby Mae Maki, 84, Orofino
Ruby Mae Maki passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Clearwater Health and Rehab Center, with her daughter Janice by her side. She was 84.
Ruby was born on July 5, 1927 in Kellogg to Frederick Sr. and Ernestine Jacobs. She was a life long resident of the Pinehurst area until September 2005 when she moved to Orofino to be closer to family.
Ruby married Allan Maki on Dec. 1, 1939 in Superior, MT. Allan and Ruby made their home in Pinehurst for over 60 years. Allan was a logger and a miner for most of his life. Ruby was a homemaker and worked at several grocery stores in the area until she became a rural mail carrier for the Enaville, Kingston and Pinehurst routes for over 30 years. She was known as the “mail lady” that got the mail delivered no matter what the weather, six days a week.
Ruby was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt to her family and was generous to a fault. She was a wonderful cook, kept an immaculate house and yard and was a caring friend to all who knew her.
Ruby will be deeply missed by all her family; daughter Janice Bartman and husband Emmett of Peck; grandchildren Pam Snyder and husband Chris of Clarkston, WA, Kelly Drover and husband Dan of Kamiah and Darin Bartman; great-grandchildren Kyle and Kayla Snyder, Courtney Seubert and Tyler Drover, and sister, Betty Walden of Soldotna, AK.
She is preceded in death by her husband Allan; sister Joan Jacobs; brother Frederick Jacobs, Jr., and her mother and father.
Cremation has taken place and Ruby will be taken to Kellogg and placed next to her husband Allan at the Kellogg Cemetery.
