While in Co. G, during the Civil War, Job contracted Croup, or chronic diarrhea [Croup is actually: A pathological condition of the larynx, especially in infants and children, that is characterized by respiratory difficulty and a hoarse, brassy cough]. 102 men from his unit died of the disease.

Job Cooper was a shoemaker and a carpenter. Ohio Civil War records obtained from the National Archives describe him as having a dark complexion and black hair.
Job/Jobe was married to Catharine Simon in 1846 and living in Monroe county Ohio in the 1850 census.726

Thanks for your reply and information. I didn't have very much on the brothers and sisters of Job/Jobe. I think the Samuel in the 1850 census is actually another child of Samuel and Jane, Samuel David Cooper. Job/Jobe was married to Catharine Simon in 1846 and living in Monroe county Ohio in the 1850 census. (now Noble Co) There is a Samuel D. Cooper d. 1852 buried beside Job in Simon cemetery in Noble Co Ohio, barely 8 years younger than Job and believed to be his brother. That would explain why he was in the 1850 Barbour Co census but not in the will of Samuel written 1858 and probated 1863, nor the 1860 census.
On the Samuel & Jane marriage, you had Dec 18, 1823. In E.L. Judy's book "History of Grant & Hardy County", page 88, I found a marriage date of Oct 18, 1821. Can you confirm the 1823 date or tell me where to find the documentation?
Also, there is a "Barbour County Cemeteries" book by McClain Publishing Co. that lists a Cooper, Samuel cemetery where Samuel Cooper, Jane Cooper, James L. Cooper, and Franklin Ward are buried. Can you tell me where this cemetery is located?
I need to make a trip to Barbour county to do some more work on this family. I live in Indiana, but still visit Jackson Co. WV at least once a year, where all my family still lives. Thanks for your help,

Notes for Catherine (Spouse 1)
March 9, 1875, Marion Price and Catherine {Simon] Cooper were issued a marriage license in Noble County, Ohio. The next day Marion and Catherine were married by Thomas McGovern J.P. NS and the marriage was registered March 13, 1875 in Noble County, Vol. 5, page 328.
