Nancy Lou Pennington, 68, of Kingwood, died on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, in Ruby Memorial Hospital with her family at her side after a long courageous battle with Melanoma.
Nancy was born May 1, 1942, at Harman, a daughter of the late Paul J. and Mary Jane (Snow) Cooper.
Nancy graduated from Potomac State College in 1962 and completed her training as a medical technologist at St. Mary's Hospital in Clarksburg. After graduation, Nancy married her high school sweetheart, Leo Pennington, at the Brethren Church in Harman, on Sept. 14, 1963. Nancy and her husband have lived in Kingwood since January 1967. During her husband's graduate schooling and military service, she was employed as a medical technologist at Monongalia General Hospital and at Forensic Laboratories in Lawton, Oklahoma. When her daughter was born, Nancy became a homemaker and pursued many activities. For many years, she was co-chairwoman of the needlework crafts at the Preston County Buckwheat Festival, a member of the Preston County Extension Homemakers, and a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. She was a very creative person who loved sewing, reading, painting, cooking and ceramics.

Nancy loved spending time with her two grandchildren, and after their retirement, the Penningtons enjoyed traveling to Europe and Alaska.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Leo Pennington; one daughter and spouse, Tracy (Pennington) and John Bolinger of Reedsville; two grandchildren, Hunter Bolinger and Alyssa Bolinger; three brothers and spouses, Paul and JoAnn Cooper of Harman, Michael and Libby Cooper of Petersburg and Nathan and Karen Cooper of Kingwood; one brother-in-law and spouse, Dick and Naomi Pennington of Dryfork; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
