Harmon L. (Bud) Bonner, 82, Weippe

Harmon L. (Bud) Bonner passed away Oct. 12, 2007 at Clearwater Valley Hospital.

Bud was born Oct. 18, 1924 to Harmon and Dottie Vandevender Bonner, just three miles from his present home.

Bud is survived by his wife, Charlotte, whom he married Nov. 19, 1949 in Orofino, his son Ron and daughter-in-law Karen, grandson Tom and great-grandson Tyler, all of Potlatch, and sister Dorothy Merry of Spokane, WA.

Bud graduated Weippe High School in 1942. He later joined the Army Combat Engineers, serving in the Philippine Campaign and the Occupation Forces in Japan.

Following his return he worked for Schmidt Brothers Lumber Company, served as Weippe Chief of Police, and worked as a warden for the Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protection Agency, retiring in 1987. Bud served from 1993-2001 as a Clearwater County Commissioner. During this period he also operated his small ranch just west of Weippe.

Bud was a life member of the P.T.A., served on the CVH Foundation board, the Fraser Park board and was a member of the American Legion.

His hobbies included shooting, hunting, fishing, spending time in the high country and horses. Oh, how he loved horses. Bud and Charlotte were particularly pleased and honored when they were asked to be Grand Marshals for the Weippe Rodeo.

The family is grateful to the doctors and staff of CVH for their care and support and asks that donations be made to the CVH Foundation or charity of your choice.

Funeral services were held Oct. 17 at Pine Hills Funeral Chapel. Burial was at Weippe Cemetery. A dinner followed at the IOOF Hall in Weippe.
